It’s More Than A Gift
It’s important to me that the person you’re gifting for receives something that feels like them.
I fell in love with gift giving at 13, when I started volunteering at a gift shop in my hometown. I would help customers find the perfect gift by asking questions, getting to know the person they were shopping for, and curating a thoughtful selection of items. I’d talk through the options, help bring it all together, and hand-select everything down to the bow on the final package. I never wanted a gift I helped pick to end up forgotten in the back of a drawer.
Over the years, I’ve seen just how special the right gift can feel. It can make someone feel known, bring people closer, and say something you sometimes can’t put into words. But I also know that finding that just-right gift doesn’t come naturally to everyone. Maybe you’re short on time, working within a budget, or simply don’t know where to begin. That’s where Shortlist can help.
I believe the best gifts are personal, curated, and specific to the person receiving them. Sometimes that means picking up on something they mentioned in passing. Sometimes it means connecting the dots between their interests, personality, and everyday life. And sometimes it’s finding something that makes you think, “This is so them.”
Because the best gifts don’t just say I got you something. They tell a story: I listen to you. I know you. I thought of you.
